Autism, ADHD & Behavioural Challenges: Pediatric Case Studies During Homeopathic Care
Children with ADHD, autism spectrum features, learning difficulties, sensory sensitivities, sleep disturbance, and severe behavioral dysregulation often present with a complex combination of symptoms.
In homeopathic practice, the focus is not only on the diagnosis. The child's emotional state, behavior, sleep, sensory responses, physical symptoms, developmental history, and individual symptom pattern are considered together.
The following three cases describe changes observed by families and schools during homeopathic care. These are individual case experiences and do not establish that homeopathy cures or treats autism, ADHD, dyslexia, dysgraphia, or other neurodevelopmental conditions.
Case 1: Child with Severe Aggression and Behavioural Dysregulation
This child presented with profound behavioral and sleep disturbance. Homeopathic care included an individualized approach together with a CEASE-style protocol.
Before Homeopathic Care
At home, the child experienced:
Severe uncontrolled aggression throughout the day and night
Forceful banging and hitting of walls, sometimes causing damage
Violent hitting of the bed and stomping on the floor
Self-biting
Persistent crying, screaming, shouting, and explosive anger
Extreme difficulty calming after an outburst
Echolalia
Severe Sleep Disturbance
Sleep was particularly concerning:
Only 2–3 hours of sleep per night
Frequent nighttime agitation, banging, and loud repetitive noises
Significant disruption of the entire family's sleep
Sleep deprivation appeared to intensify his daytime irritability and aggression.
At School
Although somewhat easier to manage in a structured environment, the school continued to report:
Aggression toward peers and teachers
Hitting and pushing
Constant pacing and movement
Difficulty remaining seated
Very limited attention
Frequent need for redirection
Reactive aggression when frustrated
Progress During Homeopathic Care
The family later reported:
No more banging on walls, floors, or furniture
No environmental damage
No self-biting
No explosive screaming or rage episodes
Marked reduction in crying and whining
Calmer, more organized behavior
Improved frustration tolerance
Improved echolalia
Ability to sit calmly and participate appropriately
Sleep changed dramatically. He began falling asleep around 9:00–9:30 p.m., sleeping deeply through the night, and waking calmly around 6:00 a.m.
School reports also improved, with:
Fewer aggressive incidents
Better attention
Reduced pacing and motor restlessness
Improved ability to remain seated
Better task participation
Improved peer interaction
Clinical Observation
One of the most striking aspects of this case was the relationship between sleep and behavioral regulation.
When the child was sleeping only a few hours each night, aggression and dysregulation dominated his behavior. As restful sleep improved, calmer and more age-appropriate behavior became increasingly apparent.
Case 2: A Child with ADHD, Mild Autism, Dyslexia and Dysgraphia
This child presented with ADHD, mild autism spectrum features, dyslexia, dysgraphia, sensory sensitivities, emotional difficulties, and recurrent physical complaints.
Before Homeopathic Care
Learning and Attention
Reading and writing significantly below grade level
Letter and number reversals
Difficulty reading longer words
Poor focus and concentration
Needed extensive homework support
Rushed through tasks
Emotional and Behavioral Symptoms
Hyperactivity and impulsiveness
Frequent crying and frustration
Sensitive to criticism
Strong reactions when told "No"
Low self-confidence
Frequently called himself "stupid" or "dumb"
Occasional self-hitting when frustrated
Sensory and Physical Symptoms
Sensitivity to clothing and water
Fine-motor difficulties
Bedwetting
Frequent illnesses
Recurrent strep/staph tendencies
Intermittent skin eruptions
Progress During Homeopathic Care
One of the clearest measurable changes was academic progress.
His reading advanced from approximately a Grade 1 level to a Grade 3 level within one school year, alongside his other therapies.
Other improvements included:
Better writing and listening
Improved concentration
Greater independence with schoolwork
Strong performance in mathematics
Less impulsiveness and hyperactivity
Far fewer crying episodes
Improved emotional regulation
Increased confidence
No recent self-hitting
No recent self-critical comments
Reduced clothing and water sensitivity
Resolution of bedwetting
Fewer significant infections
Better energy and overall resilience
Mother's Feedback
“Since starting treatment, my 9-year-old son has made remarkable progress not only academically but emotionally as well. He has gone from struggling significantly with reading to advancing from a first-grade to a third-grade reading level in a single school year alongside his other therapies.
What has meant the most to me is seeing his personality shine again. He is fun-loving, silly, more confident, and much more willing to speak up for himself. He is no longer constantly putting himself down and seems happier and more comfortable in his own skin.”
His mother's account reflects her personal experience and does not guarantee similar outcomes in other children.
Case 3: 10-Year-Old with ADHD, Developmental and Cognitive Difficulties
This child had ADHD, early developmental delay, and mild autism spectrum features. He was also taking stimulant medication for ADHD.
Before Homeopathic Care
His main difficulties included:
Severe hyperactivity and constant movement
Poor attention and impulsiveness
Anger, tantrums, and defiance
Short sentences and unclear speech
Difficulty communicating emotions
Sensitivity to smells, sounds, and toothpaste
Difficulty falling asleep
Significant morning fatigue
Strong cravings for salty food, meat, and bread
Tendency to overeat
Previous need for special education support
Progress During Homeopathic Care
Over time, his family observed significant functional progress.
Academic
Transitioned into mainstream public school
No longer required special education placement
Achieved grades around 75–85%
Joined the school orchestra
Completed homework independently
Behavior and Emotional Regulation
Major reduction in tantrums
Fewer emotional outbursts
Reduced impulsiveness
Better ability to manage frustration
Social Development
Increased social interaction
Less reactivity toward peers
Greater participation in group activities
Enjoyment of fishing, sports, and play with other children
Cognitive Development
His parents noticed:
Improved concentration
Better memory
Stronger logical thinking
Greater patience
Improved attention to detail
For example, he became interested in assembling and repairing fishing rods, requiring sustained attention, sequencing, and problem-solving.
Speech and Communication
His family estimated approximately 80% improvement in eye contact and communication.
He became:
More confident when speaking
Better able to express emotions
More conversational
Easier to understand
Speech pronunciation continued to require further improvement.
Sleep
Easier bedtime
Less morning fatigue
No further talking during sleep
Parent Feedback
For this family, the most meaningful improvement was seeing their child become increasingly independent in learning, communication, social interaction, and daily life.
What These Three Cases Highlight
Although each child presented differently, several areas of progress were repeatedly observed:
Emotional regulation
Aggression and impulsiveness
Sleep
Attention and concentration
Academic performance
Communication
Social interaction
Confidence
Sensory tolerance
Independence
Overall wellbeing
These cases also highlight the importance of looking beyond the diagnostic label.
A child may have ADHD, autism, dyslexia, or developmental difficulties, but each child's presentation is unique. Severe sleep deprivation, sensory overload, frustration, communication difficulties, physical symptoms, and emotional distress may all influence behavior and functioning.
Functional changes can therefore be particularly meaningful:
A child sleeps through the night.
Aggression and self-injury decrease.
A struggling reader progresses academically.
A child stops calling himself "stupid."
Homework becomes independent.
Communication becomes clearer.
Social interaction improves.
A family begins functioning more normally again.
These three cases represent individual experiences, but each illustrates something important: meaningful progress is often best measured not simply by a diagnostic label, but by how the child functions in everyday life.
An Integrative Approach
Children with ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, learning disorders, developmental delay, or severe behavioral problems should receive appropriate multidisciplinary support.
Depending on the child, this may include medical care, developmental assessment, psychology or psychiatry, speech-language therapy, occupational therapy, educational support, behavioral interventions, and medication when indicated.
Homeopathy may be used by families as a complementary approach, but it should not replace medically necessary care, prescribed medication, developmental therapies, or educational support.
Disclaimer: These case studies describe individual clinical experiences and parent observations. They are provided for educational purposes and do not demonstrate that homeopathy or CEASE therapy is an effective treatment for ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, dyslexia, dysgraphia, developmental delay, aggression, or other medical or neurodevelopmental conditions. Outcomes vary. Appropriate medical, developmental, psychological, educational, and emergency care should be continued whenever indicated.
